Java Developer – Remote | Contract

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Java Developer for a 100% Remote Contract opportunity. The ideal candidate will have strong full-stack development experience across Java, Scala, and Angular, with the ability to build scalable backend services, distributed applications, APIs, and responsive frontend solutions.

The role requires strong collaboration with product, QA, architecture, and DevOps teams, along with experience contributing to system design, testing, CI/CD, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development – Java & Scala

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop distributed and high-performance applications using Scala.
• Build REST and gRPC APIs for enterprise applications.
• Write clean, testable, maintainable code following SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Optimize application performance, JVM usage, memory management, and database queries.
• Work with functional programming concepts for concurrent and distributed systems.
• Integrate applications with SQL/NoSQL databases, messaging platforms, and caching technologies.
• Work with technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Redis.

Frontend Development – Angular

• Develop responsive and reusable frontend components using Angular and TypeScript.
• Work with RxJS and state-management frameworks such as NgRx.
• Integrate Angular applications with Java and Scala backend APIs.
• Collaborate on UI/UX requirements and frontend development standards.
• Ensure application performance, usability, and maintainability.

Architecture & System Design

• Participate in system architecture and technical design discussions.
• Contribute to microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Define and implement API contracts and integrations.
• Evaluate frameworks, libraries, and technologies based on project requirements.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and reliable across the full technology stack.

Testing & Code Quality

• Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Work with JUnit, ScalaTest, Jasmine/Karma, or Jest.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce development best practices.
• Improve application quality through automated testing and continuous integration.
• Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps improvements.

DevOps & CI/CD

• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
• Work with technologies such as:
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes
  • Jenkins
  • GitLab CI
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to improve deployment automation and reliability.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Mentor junior and mid-level developers across backend and frontend technologies.
• Work closely with Product Managers, QA Engineers, Architects, and other development teams.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, estimation, and planning.
• Troubleshoot production issues and resolve application performance and cross-stack problems.

Documentation & Standards

• Document technical designs, APIs, and architectural decisions.
• Maintain coding and development standards.
• Follow security, compliance, and enterprise engineering practices.
• Ensure technical documentation remains accurate and up to date.
