Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join the technology team of a leading financial services client. This is a long-term contract opportunity for a skilled software engineer with strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Python, SQL, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise application development and a solid understanding of the financial services domain. You will work closely with technology teams, business stakeholders, and other engineers to design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable cloud-based applications.

This position is available in Austin, Texas, or Denver, Colorado. Candidates should be prepared to participate in a virtual interview followed by a final in-person interview in either Austin or Denver.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
• Build reliable and scalable backend services supporting financial services applications.
• Develop automation, utilities, and supporting solutions using Python.
• Design and implement cloud-native applications and services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Work with relational databases, SQL queries, APIs, distributed systems, and enterprise application architectures.
• Develop secure and high-performance RESTful APIs for integration with internal and external systems.
• Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement effective technical solutions.
• Participate in application testing, code reviews, debugging, deployment, and production support activities.
• Collaborate with software engineers, architects, product teams, business analysts, and other cross-functional teams.
• Follow Agile development methodologies and participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and help improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Work with cloud technologies and DevOps teams to support application deployment and operational requirements.
• Ensure applications follow organizational security, coding, testing, and development standards.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and modern enterprise application development.
• Strong experience developing applications using Spring Boot.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and RESTful web services.
• Strong SQL and database development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Python for development, scripting, automation, or supporting applications.
• Practical experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native application development.
• Experience working with distributed systems, APIs, and scalable enterprise applications.
• Previous experience in the financial services domain is required.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
