Java/J2EE Developer – Columbus, OH (Onsite) | Contract for About 6 to 8 Months
We are in search of a proficient Java/J2EE Developer to fill a full-time onsite contract role based in Columbus, Ohio. About the Role
Java/J2EE DeveloperColumbus, OH Design, develop, test, and implement high-performing applications supporting mission-critical business operations in a cooperative Agile environment including sprints, code reviews, and daily standup meetings as well as technical discussions. This requires solid technical depth joined with hands-on pragmatic problem-solving skills evidenced through experience delivering and supporting enterprise-grade applications.
You will take part in every step of the development lifecycle- from learning about what the business needs to deployment and support in production. This job puts focus on good coding habits, safe development, making things run better, and talking well with others.
Application Development & Enhancement
Java/J2EE Developer Build and keep up Java/J2EE-based apps using top ways of working in the field. Write neat code that is easy to keep and use again which meets both technical design and business needs.
Use frameworks, APIs, and patterns of integration applicable at the enterprise level to build strong back-end services. Create new modules and make enhancements in existing systems for better stability, performance, and scalability.
2. Agile Teamwork
Work with cross-functional Agile teams that may include product owners, QA engineers, and architects.
Be a part of sprint planning and daily stand-up meetings; retrospectives; backlog grooming.
Take architectural discussions and provide suggestions for system design improvement.
3. Database and SQL Development Write complex SQL queries stored procedures and other scripts that may be needed by applications. Optimize tune queries for better performance in a high volume environment. Work with the data team to resolve any problem related to the database.
4. Unix/Linux and Systems Operations Work in Unix/Linux environments for deployments scripting system monitoring and debugging.
Leverage shell scripts and CLI tools for process automation and backend support, Also, work on issues related to server performance, connectivity, and application runtime.
5. Testing, Debugging & Production Support
Perform unit testing, integration testing, and participation in QA cycles. Work on defect analysis related to performance as well as system bugs. Ensure production support with the guarantee of low downtime.
6. Documentation & Code Quality
Record technical designs, solution approaches, deployment steps, and system behavior. Achieve code quality via peer reviews of codes, and compliance with coding standards followed by continuous improvement. Work jointly with DevOps Teams to sustain the CI/CD pipeline and automated testing framework.
Qualifications Necessary
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or any technical discipline, or equivalent experience gained from the industry.
– 7+ years is the sum of all IT experiences,
Java/J2EE development experience of over 5 years. Good expertise in building enterprise applications using Java, Spring, Hibernate, REST/SOAP services, and related technologies. Has worked for about 2–3 years in Agile Scrum environments and sprint cycles with cross-functional teams.
Use SQL and work with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar). Work in Unix/Linux environments. This includes scripting plus file handling. Also do system-based troubleshooting. Have great analytical and problem-solving skills. Be able to understand complex systems and debug issues fast.
Communication skills. Ability to work in a team.
Preferred Skills+
(Not Mandatory but Useful)- Hands-on modern DevOps tools like Jenkins, Git, Maven, Gradle.
– Knowledge of any cloud platform like AWS, GCP, Azure.
– Basic knowledge of microservices architecture.
– Familiar with any messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ.
– Worked on containerized environments Docker, Kubernetes.
